Marine John William Smith, Royal Marines. He was killed during the Normandy campaign on 17th August 1944, aged 22. Corporal John Weatherburn

Corporal John Weatherburn, 9th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action in Singapore on 15th February 1942, aged 33, defending Singapore against the Japanese. He was the son of John and Mary Weatherburn of Norham and is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial. His brothers Harry and Mossop were both captured.
