Lance Corporal David Malcolm

Lance Corporal David Cleghorn Malcolm, 1st Battalion, Welsh Guards. He was killed in action in France on 2nd August 1918 aged 20. He was the son of William and Ellen Malcolm of East End, Norham and is buried in Bagneux British Cemetery, Gezaincourt, France. His brother  Lance Corporal James Denham Malcolm  of the Tyneside Scottish also fell in action. Before enlisting he had been employed as a salmon netsman on the River Tweed. ( The Welsh Guards had been founded in 1915 as a single Battalion Regiment so as to include Wales in the national component in the Foot Guards).
