Pioneer James Lawrie

Pioneer James Lawrie, 303rd Road Construction Coy., Royal Engineers. He was killed in Belgium, aged 52, along with three comrades by a stray shell on 17th November 1917 and is buried in Solferino Farm Cemetery, Belgium. Before enlisting he had been employed as a porter by the North British Railway ar Norham Station. He is also commemorated on the Cornhill War Memorial.
