Roberton

The Memorial stands in the grounds of Roberton Kirk beside the B711 road in the Village of Roberton in Roxburghshire roughly 5 miles from Hawick. It consists of a simple stepped pillar whose base lists 17 Men of the Parish who fell in the Great War and 2 Men who fell in World War Two. On the front of the Memorial is the stone claymore superimposed with the locations of where the men fell. France, Gallipoli, Palestine, Egypt.  The Memorial is inscribed ” In Proud And Loving Memory Of Those Who Went Forth On active Service From this Parish At The High Call Of Duty And Laid Down Their Lives In The Cause Of Right And Liberty In The Great War 1914-1919 And In The World War 1939-1945 “.
