Private George Lauder, 1st Battalion Cameronians. He died from wounds suffered in France, aged 29, on the 11th October 1918 during the ” Advance to Victory”. He had been born in Ewes, Dumfriesshire and was the son of the late William and Mary Lauder of Kirkton. He had been employed as a gardener at Bemersyde, St. Boswells before enlisting in the 6th ( Service ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers in September 1915. In France he was posted to the 2nd Cameronians before being transferred to the 1st Battalion. He was wounded in April 1918 and again in October when he died in the 3rd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station at Manancourt. He is buried in Rocquigny-Equancourt British Cemetery, Manancourt, France.
