Gunner Norman Elliot

Gunner Norman Elliot, 10th Coy., Royal Garrison Artillery. He died at Home, aged 19, on the 1st February 1917. He was the youngest son of William and Agnes Elliot of Borthwick Brae, Roberton and is buried in Roberton Churchyard. He had enlisted in October 1916 and was on his first leave home from his training camp when he became ill at Carlisle and after reaching home he died from meningitis. He was buried with full military honours and the pipers of the Highland Light Infantry present played ” the Land of the Leal” and provided a firing party at the graveside. ( his brother James had already fallen – see above ).
