In memory of MARY PURVES who died at Coldstream Manse where she had been a trusty servant for nearly 27 years aged 65 years 24th December 1825.

There are two old headstones here. First one, two feet high on plinth beside James Wilson, Solicitor. Small top has been displaced. Erected in memory of MARGARET REID born at Lonmay Aberdeenshire on 29th January 1858 and died at Old Manse Coldstream on 12th February 1864.

Erected by JAMES GROSERT in memory of WILLIAM his son who died at Broomdykes 20 January 1850 aged 8 years. Also JANET his daughter who died at Gunsgreenhill 9 June 1865 aged 22 years. Also WILLIAM GROSERT who died at Gunsgreenhill 1 January 1877 aged 16 years. Also ELISA MITCHELL his wife who died at Kelso 11 November 1893 aged 73 years. Also the above JAMES GROSERT who died at Kelso on 18 March 1901 aged 86 years

Also THOMAS HOGG his son died 27 Sept 1872 aged 25 years. Also ISABELLA DUNCAN wife of the above who died 24th August 1877 aged 61 years. Also ROBERT DUNCAN his brother in law who died 31 December 1895 aged 68 years. Also the above ARCHIBALD HOGG died 30 November 1904 aged 88 years. Also JOHN his son who died 1 July 1918 aged 73 years. Also JAMES his son died 8 January 1834 aged 10 years. Also ALEXANDER his son who died 16 March 1837 aged 7 months. Also the above ANDREW MACK who died 7 December 1879 aged 86 years. Also MARGARET MACK wife of JOHN YULE born 14 April 1842 died 27th December 1885. Also THOMAS 4th son of ANDREW MACK born 10 October 1831 died at Denwick Northumberland 28 February 1866. (On rear which is difficult to read) JAMES MACK died 20 December 1824 aged 63 years. Also AGNES DAWSON spouse who died 9 ? 1827 aged 68 years.

Erected by DAVID HAIKNEY in memory of mother MARGARET BROWN who died February 19 1803 aged 59 years. Also his father DAVID HAIKNEY died July 19 1810 aged 62 years. Also BARBARA ANDREWS who died 27 December 1806 aged 26 years. Also daughter BARBARA who died March 8 1810 aged 3 years. Also his daughter MARGARET who died May 25th 1812 aged 2 years. Also said DAVID HAIKNEY who died 23 June 1822 aged 45 years. Also wife ISABELLA JEFFERY who died 10 August 1844 (or 1833) aged 63 years (NB no entry either year, date altered on stone). Also MARGARET daughter died 21 February 1832 aged 14 years. (On rear) Burial place of DAVID HAIKNEY’s family. (There is an inscription but it is difficult to read).

Middle – Row 10 – 11 – Dunlop/Dickson

In memory of PETER DUNLOP tenant Skaithmuir died 12th April 1859 aged 54 years. And of ISABELLA MELROSE DICKSON his wife who entered into rest November 18th 1888 aged 57 years. (There shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away. Rev XX14)

Headstone plus two little ones. ALFRED CHARLES COURT 1913 -1983. ISABELLA MARGARET COURT died 1st April 1967 aged 56 years. In loving memory of BESSIE COURT died 11th December 1946 aged 72 years.

 

Also on a headstone J Court R O C died 10 Jan 1920 age 52 years

In memory of ROBERT INNERWICK late Steward in Grahamslaw died 17 March 1805 aged -6 years. Also JOHN son died 5 January 1776 aged 3 years. Also his daughter CHRISTIAN INNERWICK died in Eckford (note r is raised) 28 August 1791 aged 22 years. Interred at Eckford Churchyard. Also HELLENOR SCOT wife died 8 August 18—aged 84 years. (This latter part of the inscription is below ground).

Sacred to memory of JANET CLARK wife of ALEXANDER GILLESPIE Simprim born at Musselburgh 18th April 1796 died at Simprim 23rd December 1871. Also the said ALEXANDER GILLESPIE born at Menslaw Northumberland 12 March 1795 died at Simprim 6 January 1873 in his 78th year. (On rear) ALISON daughter of GEORGE GILLESPIE died 14 September 1756 aged 4 months. Cornmills 02. Also GEORGE son of GEORGE GILLESPIE of Tweedmill died 17 August 1785 aged 13 years. Also GEORGE GILLESPIE died 28 November 1788 aged 65 years.

Here lies the body of JOHN ROBERTSON husband to MARGAT SUORDDIE died 31 December 1759 aged 71 years. Also JOHN his son died 28 December 1765 aged 28 years. Also MARGAT SUORDDIE died 6 January 1776 aged 27 years. (Margat’s remembrance is below ground).

Here lyes MARGRET RULE spouse to JAMES WAIT Herd at Crookeses who died 4 September 1762 aged 36 years.

Also his sister MARRON WAIT died 12 years.

Also children MARGRET died 12 February 1772 aged 4 years. Also YUPHON died 23 February 1772 aged 2 years.
