Norham Churchyard Section A Row 3 – 4 – Smith

Sacred to the memory of ROBERT NICHOLSON SMITH forth son of GEORGE and GRACE ANN SMITH of New Ladykirk who died 5th May 1818 aged 3 years.
Also JOHN SMITH their third son who died 7th April 1851 aged 7 years and 6 months old.
MARY WHITE SMITH  their oldest daughter who died 5th May 1851 aged 5 years 11 months. Both at New Ladykirk.

The Rev. Stephen GILLY, Canon of Durham and for XXIV years vicar of this parish also of his widow Jane Charlotte Mary daughter
of the late Col. COLBERG who was born on the 3rd November 1804 died 12th February 1898 aged 94 years. Died September 10th 1855 aged 66 years.

Erected by Thomas PARK of Horncliffe to the memory of Isabella his wife who died January 1st 1857 aged 58 years.
Also the above Thomas PARK died May 21st 1878 aged 77 years.
Also John TURNER who died 7th May 1890 aged 67 years.
Also Catherine TURNER his wife who died November 6th 1891 aged 72 years.
Also John Fisher TAIT son of James and Elizabeth TAIT who died 16th July 1906 aged 19 years.

Also the above Elizabeth TAIT who died at Murton 29th October 1928 aged 71 years.

Erected by Sarah RICHARDSON in loving remembrance of John RICHARDSON her husband who died at Norham April 5th 1883 aged 78 years.

Also the above Sarah RICHARDSON who died July 7th 1885 aged 78 years.
 

When mourning o'er this stone I bend where sleeps a dear departed friend though from his hand , his voice, his smile, divided for a little while my Saviour marks the tears I shed, for Jesus wept o'er Lazarus dead'.

Sacred to the memory of Mary THOMPSON daughter of John and Ann THOMPSON in Thornton who died 29th October 1839 aged 7 years.

Also James Nichol THOMPSON their son who died January 21st 1840 aged 2 yrs.

The above Ann THOMPSON died at Coupland Lodge on 27th day of February 1877 aged 74 years.

Also the above John THOMPSON who died at Coupland Lodge on the 26th April 1881 aged 84 years.

 Sacred to the memory of Agnes Oliver wife of George FORSYTH, East Ord, who died September 16th 1842 aged 73 years whose memory is cherished and revered by her surviving and sorrowing children.

 In  memory of Richard FORSYTH, over 40 years Master of Norham Endowed School who died July 26th 1887 aged 74 years’ 

Also of Ann his wife who died November 19th 1878 67 years.

Also Richard FORSYTH their son died October 13th 1860 16 years.

Also George Oliver FORSYTH their son died May 26th 1886 aged 33 years.

 Sacred to the memory of Mary wife of Ralph NICHOLSON of Thornton who departed this life July 10th 1828 aged 42 years

 And of Ralph NICHOLSON of Thornton late Lieut. H.M. 31st & 17th Regiment of Foot who after having suffered severely from wounds received in the battles of Albuera and Jubbulpore died 17th August 1853 aged 63 years.

Elizabeth Wood  NICHOLSON eldest daughter of the above born May 20th 1821 died May 19th 1901.

Also Robert PARK who died at Horncliffe 30th June 1931 aged 69 years
