Old Churchyard – Row 8 – South – Tate/Wanlass

Here lies the body of WILLIAM TATE of Cornhill who died April 13th 1781 aged 35 years. Also MARY WANLASS his wife who died 16th March 1822 aged 81 years. Also ANDREW TATE their son who died at Coldstream 25th July 1835 aged 36 years.

In loving memory of MARY ORDE wife of WILLIAM GILROY who died at Branxton Buildings 7th March 1893 aged 59 years. Also WILLIAM GILROY their grandson beloved son of WILLIAM and MARTHA RICHARDSON who died at Castle Heaton 24th August 1892 aged 4 years and 8 months. Also the above WILLIAM GILROY who died at Shellacres 13th Oct 1914 in his 87th year.

Also of MARY their daughter who died 24th June 1951 aged 54 years.

In loving memory of JAMES PATTERSON TOPPIN who fell asleep in Jesus at Pallinsburn Lodge 19th Aug 1895 aged 19 years  HANNAH TOPPIN  died at Pallinsburn Lodge 25th Dec 1900 aged 64 years. ROBERT TOPPIN husband of the above died at Milfield 17th March 1902 aged 73 years.

Also ELEANOR PRINGLE their daughter who died at Branxton June 18th 1843 aged 40 years. Also AGNES BRYSON who died at Shidlaw April 10th 1885 aged 86 years. Also ELEANOR BRYSON who died at Greenlaw Walls 6th August 1911 aged 76 years.

ANN SELBY Grand daughter who died in infancy. Also ANDREW their son and beloved husband of BARBARA SELBY who died at Fenton Town April 2nd 1907 aged 73 years. Also of the above BARBARA SELBY  who died at Pawston June 16th 1912 aged 76 years. Also BARBARA ISABELL daughter of the above who died at Lowick May 24th 1952 aged 76 years.

In loving memory of JOHN BROWN beloved husband of MARGARET BROWN who died at Branxton Hill April 4th 1919 aged 56 years. Also the above MARGARET BROWN who died at Norham June 30th 1937 aged 68 years. Also WILLIAM BROWN infant son of the above who died March 27th 1891 aged 10 months.

In loving memory of ISAAC FAIRNINGTON died January 30th 1918 aged 65 years. I know that my redeemer liveth. Also EMILY ELIZA TENNANT HUGGINS his beloved wife who died Dec 16th 1950 aged 96 years.  Their children rise up call them blessed. South-facing side: Also of their beloved daughter EMILY ELIZA FAIRNINGTON died December 1st 1969 aged 83 years.

Erected by ANN in loving memory of JOHN LYLE her husband who died at Moneylaws March 20th 1863 aged 64 years. Also of JOHN LYLE grandson of the above who died at the Hagg 1st April 1880 aged 27 years. AGNES LYLE died at Grindon Oct 1882 aged 17 years.

Also DAVID PILLAR their son who died at Borewell Scremerston 21st April 1883 aged 40 years. Also HENRY son of the above DAVID PILLAR died at East Learmouth 19th May 1879 aged 7 1/2 years.
