Ford Section – A – 80 – Cockburn

Erected by AGNES COCKBURN in memory of her beloved husband ALEXANDER COCKBURN who died at East Newbigging  December 27th 1878 aged 67 years.

Also two of their children  died in infancy.

Also the above AGNES COCKBURN who died at Mindrum Mill September 13th 1889 aged 74 years

In memory of JOHN son of WILLIAM & CHRISTEN COCKBURN who died at Crookham April 6th 1816 aged 16 years.

This youth whose fate surviving friends lament, crushed to death by fatal accident.

“Boast not thyself of tomorrow, knowest not what a day may bring forth”

Also THOMAS their son who died July 16th 1826 aged 18 years.

Underneath this monument are deposited the mortal remains of  THOMAS BLACK who died December 10th 1829 aged 2 weeks, of JOHN BLACK who died June 12th 1833 aged 18 years.

And of JANE BLACK who died July 16th 1833 aged 15 years.

All of them children of JAMES & ANN BLACK of Ford Mill.

Reader let the memorial of these young blossoms cut off in the morning of life speak to thee with this friendly admonition.

Also ROBERT BLACK their son who died at St Duthberts 3rd May 1843 aged 27 years.

Ann died 13th May 1833 aged 5 years.

Also ELIZABETH died 8th February 1852 aged 16 years.
And the above ANDREW OLIVER who died 27th August 1867 aged 77 years.

In memory of JAMES HUNTER who departed this life at Ford 12th September 1854 aged 25 years.
Also BARBARA  wife of ALEXANDER HUTCHINSON  Blacksmith Ford who died September 13th 1867 aged 65 years.
Also the above ALEXANDER HUTCHINSON died at Ford 4th August 1864 in his 85th year
Also BARBARA HUTCHINSON daughter of the above died 21st January 1902 aged 63 years.

MARGARET LUCY widow of the above THOMAS SMITH died at Hull 21st January 1895 aged 74 years.

In memoriam. THOMAS BLACK Ford Forge born 31st May 1788 died 5th February 1850. MARGARET PATERSON his wife born in March 1794 died 24th June 1831. JOHN their son born 31st December 1820 died 31st May 1822. GEORGE DIXON their uncle late tenant of Newburn Norham died 5th January 1844 aged 70 years.

In affectionate remembrance of THOMAS BLACK born 12th May 1856 JAMES SANDERSON  BLACK born 20th February 1858 sons of JOHN & MARY BLACK Ford Westfield who were drowned while bathing in the river till on 9th July 1870.

They were lovely and pleasant in their lives. And in death they were not divided

Also his son GEORGE who died December 27th 1824 aged 2 years.
