Private Thomas Hume. 10th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action during the Battle of Third Ypres on 17th September 1917 and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, Belgium. He was educated at Tillmouth School. and had enlisted in Alnwick. The photographs show the the desolation of the Flanders battlefields where the incessant shelling had destroyed the drainage systems.
