Private George Dodds, 2nd/1st Lothian and Borders Horse, He died on Service, aged 22, at home on 8th January, 1916 and is buried in Yetholm Churchyard. He had been born in Mertoun and was the son of James and Annie Dodds of Yetholm. Before enlisting he had been employed as a bank clerk with the Bank of Scotland. He was serving at Amisfield camp in Haddington when he contracted measles and suffered cardiac failure.
