Private William Cockburn, 11th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France on 5th July 1917 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium. He was the son of Mr and Mrs D. Cockburn of Ewart, Wooler and the husband of Edith Cockburn of Alnwick. Before the War he was employed by the Glendale Co-op.
