Corporal James Elliot, 7th Battalion Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. He died in Poland whilst a Prisoner of War on 7th May 1941, aged 23. He was the son of George and Anne Elliot of Wooler and is buried in Malbork Communal War Cemetery, Poland. He was probably captured after the Battalion’s heroic rearguard action at St Valery in France on 7th June 1940. He was the brother of Sidney Elliot above. His Headstone is inscribed ” Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori”.
