Guardsman Alexander Robinson

Guardsman Alexander Robinson, 3rd Battalion, Coldstream Guards. He was killed in action in Egypt on 11th December 1940, aged 24. He was the son of John and Mary Robinson of North Middleton, Wooler and is buried in Halfaya Sollum War Cemetery, Egypt. The Battalion had been stationed in Egypt when War had broken out in September 1939. He fell during “Operation Compass” where the Battalion was part of “Selby Force” and were driving the Italian army back across the North African desert taking huge numbers of prisoners and materiel.
