Private Thomas Hogg

Private Thomas Darling Hogg, 4th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died of wounds in Holland on 28th December 1944, aged 27. He had been born in Whitsome and was the son of James and Alice Hogg of Whitsome East Newton farm and is buried in Brunssum Cemetery, Holland. His Headstone is inscribed ” To The Glory Of God. He Fought and Died That We Might Live. Father Mother And Bill”. He had been educated at the Berwickshire High School and farmed East Newton with his father. He had been a Territorial with the K.O.S.B. and had taken part in the fighting to clear the River Scheldt at Walcheren before crossing into Holland.
