Private Ralph McLain, 25th Battalion( 2nd Tyneside Irish ) Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France on 9th April 1918 aged 41 and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial. He was the son of Thomas and Hannah McLain. He fell during heavy German attacks in the River Lys sector which forced the battalion to withdraw to further defensive lines.
