Lance Corporal Thomas Bryson

Lance Corporal Thomas John William Bryson, Border Regiment ( 1st Airborne ) Regiment.  He was killed in action at Arnhem in Holland on 21st September 1944, aged 28, during Operation “Market Garden”. He was the son of George and Isabel Bryson and the husband of Gwendoline Bryson on North Kensington, London. He is buried in Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem, Holland and his headstone is inscribed ” Dearest Husband Of Gwen Greatly Missed Will Be Loved And Remembered Always”.  The Regiment, 788 strong, landed by glider and despite an heroic stand in guarding the Osterbeek perimeter only 9 Officers and 241 Other Ranks made it back safely with the Regiment seeing no further action during the War.
