Private John Morgan Heckels, ” X ” Coy. 1st/4th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He was killed in action in Belgium on 24th July 1917, aged 35. and is buried in Adinkirke Churchyard Extension, Adinkirke, Belgium. He was the son of John and Margaret Heckels of 75 Morris Street, Gateshead and was a native of Berwick-upon-Tweed. His Headstone is inscribed ” Until The Day Breaks And The Shadows Flee Away”.
