Sergeant Henry Scott, M.M. 1st/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was discharged from the Army in July 1919 and died at home in St Boswells from tuberculosis on 29th July 1920, aged 29. He was the son of Mr and Mrs William Scott of Melrose Buildings, St Boswells and is buried in St Boswells Parish Churchyard. Having been a Territorial he was mobilised with the Battalion in August 1914 and he had served with the Battalion throughout the War in Gallipoli, Egypt, Palestine and France. (The Memorial shows Sergeant Scott with the Military Medal but there is no mention of it in the Official Register of M.M. recipients )
