Private George Swinton

Private George Lothian Swinton, 7th/8th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died from wounds in France, aged 28, on the 26th June 1918. He had been born in Edgerston and was the son of James and Margaret Swinton of Hiltonshill, St. Boswells and Thornilee, Clovenfords and was the husband of Mary Swinton of Carilaw, St. Boswells and Wester Muirdean, Kelso. He had enlisted in the K.O.S.B. Reserve in August 1914 and joined his Battalion as a Piper in February 1917. He died in the 46th Field Ambulance at Duisans and is buried in Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, France.
