Private Andrew Elliot Tinlin, 7th ( Service ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in France on 24th February 1916, aged 21. He was the son of Robert Tinlin of Toll House, Sprouston, Kelso and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Dud Corner, Loos, France. At that time the Battalion were holding trenches in the Hill 70 sector near the village of Loos and were subjected to intermittent enemy shelling. He had originally enlisted in the 2nd K.O.S.B. but had been wounded on the Aisne in September 1914 and after recovery had been posted to the 7th Battalion.
