Private Henry Heckles

Private Henry Wilson Heckles, 9th ( Service ) Battalion, Durham Light Infantry. He died in France on 27th May 1915 from wounds received in action, aged 26 and is buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery near Boulogne, France. He was the son of Andrew and Phyllis Heckles of Coldstream, Berwickshire. His Parent’s headstone is situated in Lennel Churchyard, Coldstream and Private Heckles is also commemorated there although his Battalion is inscribed as the 8th D.L.I. ) The photos were taken during the Battle.
