Sergeant John McShane

Sergeant John Joseph McShane, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was killed on Service ,aged 21, in a flying accident in Yorkshire on the 3rd October 1943. He had been born in Huntington in 1922 and was the son of the late James and Ellen McShane of 17 Market Place, Selkirk. He had been aboard a Handley Page Halifax bomber on a training flight from R.A.F. Pocklington when it crashed near Market Weighton, Yorkshire. He is buried in Pocklington Burial Ground where his Headstone is inscribed ” All I Ask Is that You Will Remember Me At The Altar Of the Lord”.
