Private Thomas Smith

Private Thomas Smith, Royal Scots. He died on Service, aged 54, at Home after a short illness on the 10th September 1944. He had been born in Selkirk in 1890 and was the son of the late John and Isabel Smith of 20 Market Place, Selkirk. He was a Master Slater in Selkirk and had served in the Great War in the Lothian and Border Horse and the 17th ( Service ) Battalion, Royal Scots. On the outbreak of War he re-joined the Royal Scots and served for three years. He is buried in Selkirk Old Churchyard.
