Private John Anderson

Private John Forrest Anderson, 3rd Cavalry Division Mechanical Transport, Army Service Corps. He died on Active Service in France on 31st October 1918 aged 25. He was the son of William and the late Margaret Anderson of The Hangingshaw, Yarrowford and 31 Curor Street, Selkirk. He is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, Etaples, Pas de Calais, France. He had served his apprenticeship as an ironmonger in Selkirk before enlisting in September 1914. He landed on the Continent with the 3rd Cavalry Division Supply Column and served on the Western Front throughout the War. He died in the 4th General Hospital, Camiers from influenza and pneumonia.
