Private Francis Napier Scott, 4th ( Reserve ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died on Service from influenza, aged 31, in the 2nd General Military Hospital, Edinburgh on the 23rd November 1918 and is buried in Selkirk Cemetery. He had been born in Selkirk in 1887 and was the son of Francis and Marion Scott of Dovecot Park, Selkirk. He was the husband of Jessie Scott of Hillside Terrace, Selkirk whom he had married in Selkirk in 1910. He had been employed as a commercial traveller for a Manchester company and travelled widely in South and Central America.. After returning from Peru in July 1918 he enlisted in the K.O.S.B. and was in training in Fife when he became ill. and died in hospital.
