Gunner George Geddes

Gunner George Tinlin Geddes, 268th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. He died from wounds suffered in action against the Turks, aged 20, in Palestine on the 14th March 1918. He had been born in Selkirk and was the son of Andrew and Helen Geddes of Ettrickhaugh Road and 17 Kilncroft, Selkirk. He is buried in Jerusalem War Cemetery, Israel. The R.F.A. normally used the 18 pounder field gun in an anti infantry role using both high explosive and shrapnel shells one of which is shown below.
