Flying Officer James Wright

Flying Officer James Johnstone Wright, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He died on Active Service, aged 30, on the 6th October 1942. He was the son of Andrew and Isabella Wright of 6a Clifton Road, Selkirk and is commemorated on the Gibraltar Memorial. He had played Rugby for Selkirk before going up to Keith to work as a designer. He enlisted in 1940 and was commissioned Pilot Officer in January 1942. He was killed when his Vickers Wellington bomber of No.1 Overseas Aircraft Delivery Unit disappeared whilst flying to the Middle East.
