Private Robert Mitchell, ( possibly ), 20th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers ( 1st Tyneside Scottish ). He was killed in action on 1st July 1916 on the opening day of the Battle of the Somme and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Thiepval, Somme, France. He fell in the attack at La Boiselle where the objectives were not gained and the Battalion suffered very heavy casualties. Between 1st and 3rd July the Battalion had 564 casualties of whom 254 were killed.
