Private George Small

Private George Alexander Walter Small, 2nd Battalion, Gordon Highlanders. He was killed in action in Holland on 25th September 1944, aged 27. He was the son of Alexander and Elizabeth Small and the husband of Isabella Amos Small of Bathgate, West Lothian and is buried in Mierlo War Cemetery, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands. He was a native of Kelso and his Headstone is inscribed ” In Our Garden Of Memories We Meet Every Day, Dear “. The Battalion formed part of the 15th ( Scottish ) Division and the photograph shows the Battalion advancing in Holland with their Bren Carriers towing anti-tank guns.
