Flying Officer Robert Bruce

Flying Officer Robert Simpson Bruce, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.  He was a pilot with 184 Squadron R.A.F. and died in Germany on 28th May 1945, aged 20. He was the son of James and Mary Bruce of Jedburgh and is buried in Hanover War Cemetery, Hanover, Germany. The Squadron flew the Hawker Typhoon 1B fighter-bomber and claimed to be the first Squadron to be based on German soil when it moved there on 21st March 1945. As the War had ended on 8th May 1945 it maybe he died in a flying accident ).
