Private George Turnbull

Private George Oliver Turnbull, 12th Battalion ,Royal Scots Fusiliers. He died of wounds in France in No.1 Australian Hospital on 30th August 1918 after having been gassed. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Turnbull of Shidlaw Farm and is buried in Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France. He had served in Egypt originally and had been transferred to France in May 1918 to help stem the German advance. Before enlisting he had been employed on Shidlaw Farm. He had enlisted in April 1915 and had served in Egypt before his Battalion was transferred to the Western Front.
