Sapper John Kinloch Stewart

Sapper John Kinloch Stewart, 11th Field Company, Royal Engineers. He died in France on 15th July 1916 aged 22 during the Battle of the Somme. He is buried in Danzig Alley British Cemetery where his Headstone is inscribed ” Till The Day Dawns And The shadows Flee Away”. He was the son of William and Jessie Torrance Stewart of Stanley Place, Newtown St. Boswells and went to France with his Company in June 1915. The photographs show troops on the Somme with the colour image depicting a peaceful Somme landscape today.
