Lance Corporal Joseph Barrie Redburn Gold, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was fatally wounded by a sniper in the Donegall Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland on 25th April 1972, aged 29, whilst carrying out a roadside check on passing vehicles. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of James and Martha and is buried in Wairds Cemetery, Melrose.
