Trooper Kenneth Laidlaw

Trooper Kenneth R. Laidlaw, Inns of Court Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps. He was killed in action in Normandy near St Germain La Blanche Herbe, Caen on 9th July 1944, aged 31. He was the son of the late William and Isabella Laidlaw was born in Morebattle and is buried in Bayeux War Cemetery, Normandy, France. The regiment nicknamed “The Devil’s Own ” used both the Daimler Armoured Car and the Dingo Scout Car  for the reconnaissance purposes of 1 Corps of which the regiment was part. The photograph shows the Daimler which is now in the Imperial War Museum. ( His brother James also fell -see above ).
