Private John Henry Fox, 5th ( Service ) Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He died in France of wounds on 21st August 1917 in the 21st Casualty Clearing Station at Ytres aged 19. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Henry Fox of Morebattle and is buried in Rocquigny- Equancourt British Cemetery, Manancourt, Somme, France. Before enlisting he had worked in the Drapery Department of Lugton and Porteous, Commercial House, Kelso. He had been born and had enlisted in Edinburgh and his Headstone is inscribed ” Beloved Eldest Son Of Mr & Mrs H. Fox Morebattle By Kelso “.
