Private Thomas Reid, 6th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in Belgium on 17th December 1915, aged 22 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium. He was the son of Christina and the late David Reid of Longnewton Mill, Lilliesleaf, Roxburghshire. He had been born in Sprouston, Roxburghshire, enlisted in Galashiels and lived in St Boswells. At that time the Battalion were holding trenches in the Zillebeke sector in the Ypres Salient and suffered losses through enemy shelling and sniping.
