Trooper George Dodds

Private George Dodds, 2nd/1st Lothian and Border Horse. He died on Service from heart failure, aged 22, whilst serving at Amisfield camp, Haddington on 8th January 1916 and is buried in Yetholm Parish Churchyard. He had been born in Mertoun and was the son of James ( former schoolmaster at Mertoun) and Annie Dodds of Yetholm.  Before enlisting he had worked as a bank clerk with the Bank of Scotland.
