Private Thomas Grant

Private Thomas Pringle Grant, 15th Battalion ( 48th Highlanders of Canada ),Canadian Infantry. He was killed in action in Belgium on 15th August 1917, aged 34, during the Third Battle of Ypres. He was the son of Robert Grant of Maxton and the husband of Betsy Grant of 363 Main Street, Toronto.  He had married her in Maxton in 1908 ).He is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial. He had emigrated to Canada in 1910 and was working as a carpenter in Toronto when he enlisted in January 1916. His brother James also fell ( see above for details ). The photos show troops during the early stages of the Battle.
