Private John Boa

Private John Boa, 1st Battalion, Cameron Highlanders.  He died in France on 24th April 1918, aged 20, of wounds received in action during the German Spring Offensive on the River Lys. He had been born in Hawick and was the son of Walter and Jessie Boa of Station House, Maxton and is buried in Lapugnoy Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” His Banner Over Me Is Love “.  He had been employed by the North British Railway Company when he enlisted in the 7th Camerons in Berwick-upon-Tweed. He had been wounded in August 1917 and upon recovery he was posted to the 1st Battalion. The photographs show Allied troops awaiting the advancing Germans.
