Captain Sydney Joicey

Captain Sydney James Dreyer Joicey, 10th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was adjutant of his Battalion and was killed in France on 20th March 1916, aged 31. He was the third son of 1st Baron Joicey and Baroness Joicey of Ford Castle, Ford, Northumberland and is buried in Lievin Communal Cemetery Extension, Pas de Calais, France. He had been educated Harrow and Eton and then went up to Trinity College, Cambridge where he graduated M.A. in 1911. Afterwards he worked as a colliery manager, an industry in which his father had many interests.
