Lance Corporal George Wood, Black Watch transferred as Corporal to the 750th Area Employment Company, Labour Corps. He died on Service, aged 26, in the Royal Infirmary in Manchester. He had been born in Cranshaws and was the son of James and Sibbly Wood of Wedderlie, Westruther. Sibbly had been born in Longformacus. He had originally enlisted in the 8th Battalion, Black Watch but at some stage had been transferred to the Labour Corps. He is buried in Longformacus Parish Churchyard.
