Private James Hall

Private James Hall, 6th ( Service ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died in Germany, aged 23, on 27th February 1919 after the Armistice. The Battalion was part of the 9th ( Scottish ) Division which had been chosen to be part of the British Occupying Force. He was the son of Robert and Rebecca Hall of Joy Graden, Kelso and he is buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery. He had been born near Haddington and had lived and enlisted in Kelso. He was on his way to be demobilised when he fell from an electric tramcar and was hit by the vehicle, dying in the 44th Casualty Clearing Station . ( His brother George also fell – see above ).
