Private William Bell

Private William Wilson Bell, ” C ” Coy. 1st/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died in Kildean Hospital from meningitis on 3rd March 1915, aged 19. He was the only son of John and Ellen Bell of Lilliesleaf and is buried in Stirling ( Ballengeich ) Cemetery. His Headstone is inscribed ” Joint Tribute by Officers N.C.Os and Men of C Coy., His Family, Fellow Members of U.F.Church and Friends in Lilliesleaf “. Before enlisting he had been employed on Harelaw Farm, Lilliesleaf and was in training when he fell ill and died.
