Trooper James Welsh

Trooper James Welsh, 1st Kings Dragoon Guards, Royal Armoured Corps, killed in action in Italy during the advance to the Gothic Line on 13th November 1944 aged 22 years. He had been born in Jedburgh and was the son of George and Euphemia Welsh of Kaimes East Mains, Leitholm and is buried in  Cesena War Cemetery, Italy.  His Headstone is inscribed ” In Loving Memory Of My Dear Son. For King And Country. Deeply Mourned “. The Kings Dragoon Guards were an armoured reconnaissance Regiment who used such vehicles as the Daimler Armoured Car and the M3 Half Track.
