Lance Corporal Thomas Redpath

Lance Corporal Thomas Redpath, 2nd Battalion, Royal Scots He was killed in action on 23rd December 1941 during the defence of Hong Kong against the Japanese invasion. He had been born in Lauder and was the son of James and Margaret Redpath of 22 Upper Vennel, Lauder and was the husband of K.Y. Redpath of Hong Kong. He is commemorated on the Sai Wan Memorial, Hong Kong.  He was a Regular Soldier and his Battalion had been stationed in Hong Kong since 1938 and the survivors of the Japanese attack all went into a long and brutal captivity.
