Second Lieutenant Robert Logan

Second Lieutenant Robert Logan, 1st/4th (Border) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers, attached 2nd Battalion, K.O.S.B. He was killed in action in France on 20th October 1918 during the “Advance to Victory” having been transferred from 4th K.O.S.B. on 29th September. He had been born in Ledgerwood, Berwickshire and was the son of James and Mary Logan of Birkhill, Earlston and is buried in Caudry British Cemetery, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” Of Birkhill, Earlston, Berwickshire”.  He had originally enlisted in the Lothian and Border Horse landing in France in September 1915. In April 1917 he was commissioned into the K.O.S.B. He fell in the attack towards Selle and was the last 2nd Battalion, K.O.S.B. Officer to die in the Great War. The photographs show Allied troops during the advance after the retreating German army during the final 100 days of the War.
