Private Robert Anderson

Private Robert F. Anderson, 6th Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers). He was killed in action in France on 28th September 1918 during the “Advance to Victory” aged 20. He had been born in Whittinghame, East Lothian and was the son of Robert and Mary Anderson of Threepwood, Lauder and Southdean, Hawick. He is buried in Anneux British Cemetery, France where his headstone is inscribed ” He Died That We Might Live “.   When he enlisted he had been employed by Sir John Rankine at Threepwood, Lauder. His brother Andrew also fell – see above. The photographs show Allied troops during the final advance against the retreating German army in the final 100 days of the War.
