Private John Hopkirk

Private John Pringle Hopkirk, 1st/4th (Border) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died from pneumonia on Service at Home on 23rd February 1915, aged 17. He was the son of John and Helen Hopkirk of Threepwood Lodge, Lauder and Townhead, Newstead, Melrose and is buried in Lauder Cemetery. Before enlisting (underage) he had worked as a ploughman
